For Shreyas Iyer, one month of June is heartbroken. Ten days after Punjab Kings were taken to the final of 2025, only to reduce against Royal Challengers Bangalore, India’s batsman has so far suffered another final defeat – this time in the T20 Mumbai League. Iyer captained Sobo Mumbai Falcons in the local T20 competition and saw ready to finish the month at one high. But this was not to happen. His side was beaten by Mumbai South Central Maratha Royals in the final held at Wankhede Stadium, Iyer failed to make a mark with the bat, causing his diarrhea performance in the IPL final.Prior to ending the two back-to-back final defeat in June, Shreyas Iyer set an important record in the title clashes. He was part of the Mumbai team that lifted the Ranji Trophy, played an important role in India’s Iranian Cup Triumph, and Kolkata Knight Riders captained for a memorable IPL 2024 title. He also led his kingdom to win the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy, and was a member of the India’s squad who achieved the Champions Trophy 2025 earlier this year. Speaking after the match, an emotional Iyer said, “Do not want to indicate any particular event. Overall, the boys were fantastic with their efforts. We lost just one game in the final. Just one game where you can’t do no one out-it is originally backstabing, and I don’t enjoy it.”

Iyer accepted each other direct title loss injury, but encouraged his team to be proud of his campaign: “It is very common to feel after the final loss. It should be hurt. But when they return next year, they will have additional inspiration and confidence. They should be proud of their efforts.”Quiz: Who is that IPL player? On this occasion, Indian cricket veteran Rohit Sharma was in presence and personally handed over the runner-up medal to Iyer.
