After Rahul Dravid’s cold expression went viral, after filtering Ryan Parag’s bat by the umpire, experts asked, ‘Why?’

In IPL 2025, bat checks are becoming quite common. While this was not ideal in earlier versions, this time the umpires can be seen checking the width of bats, before a batsman enters the ground. Already, two Kolkata Knight Riders player Sunil Narin and Enrique Nortze failed to pass the bat test. The umpires are checking bats with a gauge, through which the willow will have to pass to eradicate the use of oversized bats. The same thing happened during Rajasthan Royals’ IPL 2025 match against Delhi Capital on Wednesday. RR Batter Ryan Parag’s bat was checked twice by umpires and the expression of coach Rahul Dravid could not be remembered during the incident.

“You know what he is saying to the umpire?” You have already checked my bat in the dressing room, why are you checking it again? ” “A commentator said.

Sunrisers Hyderabad’s head coach Daniel Vetori said on Wednesday that the umpires who examine the bats size with a gauge in the IPL do not matter and wanted the same parameters during their sports days.

“I want to check the bats when I was playing,” Vetori quipped during the SRH press conference here at the Venkhed Stadium.

“No, I don’t think it makes any difference. People are tested regularly. Umpire goes through the dressing room for a long time, so () people know that their bats are compliant, so it is just a second, and everyone moves forward.” He said, “It is trying to keep anyone a big bat, but it is very easy to get your bat through that gauge,” he said.

Vetori said that this is not a matter of discussion among SRH batsmen and said that he does not think the decrease in bat size is on the card.

He said, “Not really. I think the bats have grown up without gaining weight, this is a skill (to be credited to bat manufacturers) and what is the demand of batting groups or batsmen these days,” he said.

He said, “It is just a part of the game, part of development. Everyone enjoys sixes and fours, so I don’t think we are going to decrease in the size of the bat and it really doesn’t worry me,” he said.
