Former Indian cricketer Madan Lal believes that the Cricket Board Control (BCCI) in India took a good decision to suspend the Indian Premier League (IPL), given the ongoing tension between India and Pakistan. “Look, the BCCI has taken a good decision. Currently, our country is fighting India, Pakistan, so I do not think it’s a good thing if we continue the IPL. Then we can wait for the rest of the decisions, the BCCI should take away only after consulting the government,” Madan Lal told ANI. BCCI has decided to suspend the remaining Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 with immediate effect for a week.

After comprehensive evaluation of the situation in consultation with relevant officers and stakeholders, further updates about the new schedule and venue of the tournament will be announced.

After the representation of most of the franchisees, the decision was taken by the IPL Governing Council after appropriate consultation with all major stakeholders who expressed the concerns and feelings of their players, and also the views of the broadcasters, sponsors and fans.

While BCCI repeats full faith in the strength and preparations of our armed forces, the board considered it prudent to act in the collective interest of all stakeholders.

The update follows the unfortunate incident on Thursday night at the Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association (HPCA) Stadium, where the much awaited game between Punjab Kings (PBK) and Delhi Capital (DC) was canceled.

The people present were informed about the cancellation and directed to leave the venue, while the two teams were taken back to their residence. Soon after, Punjab Kings confirmed the news through their official social media account, saying, “The match has been closed.” After the cancellation of the match, fans were seen exiting the stadium chanting the slogans of ‘Pakistan Murdabad’.
