After KKR’s 1-run win over RR, Varun Chalwarti’s “self-biliff” comment wins the Internet

After winning the Rajasthan Royals at the Eden Gardens, Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) spinner Varun Chakraverthi said that such a win would give his team very important momentum for the remaining campaign in IPL 2025. On the other hand, the Royals are in the eighth, with three wins and nine defeats, they gave them six points.

Speaking at the post-match press conference about the victory, Varun Chakraborty said, “This kind of victory will give us momentum and will give us self-confidence that we can pull tight matches. And this is what we need this time. So, I hope we can draw the next three matches. So we have not done before here.”

Chasing 207 runs, the RR was 71/5, but the 92 -run stand between Shubam Dubey and Jofra Archer from Parag and Shimron Hetmyer and fireworks almost took him home, until the pair failed to complete a double on the final ball, to push the match in the super over.

A magnificent battle of captain Ryan Parag became 95 wasted as Ajinkya Rahane-led side grabbed his veins to refuse to win the Rajasthan-based franchise, which reduced him a run.

In addition, the 33-year-old player said that he would have to win all the remaining matches in the ongoing 18th edition of the Cash-Rich League, as every game from here is “knockout” for him.

“We have to win all matches; it becomes a knockout. So we are of the mentality that we still have six knockout games, three and two – five knockout games in the playoffs. Every game is a knockout from here, so you have to bring our A game, and it was good that we had this victory, we will be able to get a good pace in the next game.”

Coming into the match, KKR won the toss and opted to bat first.

Sunil Narin was rejected cheaply, a half -century stand stabilized by captain Ajinkya Rahane and Rahmanullah Gurbaz (35 in 25 balls, with four borders and a six). A 61 -run stand for the fourth wicket between Angkarish Raghuvanshi (44 in 31 balls, with five fours) and Andre Russell (57 in 25 balls, four borders and sixth sixes) gave the innings very important for the fourth wicket. Russell and Rinku (19* in six balls, with four and two sixes) took KKR in 20 overs at 206/4.

Jofra Archer, Yudhwir Singh, Ryan, and Mahesh Thekshana took every wicket.

During the 207-run run-chase, the RR was 71/5, but captain Ryan Parag (95 in 45 balls, 95 with six fours and eight sixes) and Shimron Hetmier (29 in 23 balls with 29, one four and six) was a 92-run stand. Despite fireworks from Shubam Dubey (25* 14 balls 25*, one four and two sixes) and Jofra Archer (12 in eight balls), RR decreased by one run, which ended in his 20 overs at 205/8.

Varun Chakraborty (2/32), Harshit Rana (2/41) and Moin Ali (2/43) were the top wicket-tapers for KKR.
