Adriana Leone scored two goals and San Diego Wave extended his unbeaten streak into six matches with a 5–2 win on Northern Carolina courage on Sunday.
Perell Maoroni, Kristeon Mainab and Maria Sanchez also scored goals as the wave (6–2–2, 20 points), who went into the only possession of the second place. Kalen Sheridan made two savings for San Diego.
Feli Rauch and Manaka Matsukubo each scored a goal for courage (3-4-3, 12 digits), who saw their four-game unbeaten streaks. Casey Murphy made two savings for North Carolina.
Mainab scored from inside the correct post in the 54th minute, Trinity Armstrong gave a 3–2 lead after the Trinity Armstrong sent a looping header for the right post.
Leon’s second score for a 4–2 lead came from top of the penalty region in the 60th minute, as he absorbed the collision with Murphy. Sanchez added a goal to the fifth minute of the second half stoppage time.
In the 12th minute, courage was opened with a 1-0 lead when Matsukubo gave Rowch a cross from the right, which scored on the diving header.
In the 25th minute also the wave pulled when Delphine Cassacarino sent a cross through traffic, in which Moroni scored his first NWSL goal from inside the penalty spot.
San Diego adopted 2–1 in the 40th minute when Jia Corlay forced a turnover outside the Northern Carolina Penalty region and Lyon scored 10 yards off a loose ball.
Courage tied it 2–2 in the 51st minute when Matsukubo fired a left toe from inside the penalty in traffic and punched the rebound to score with his right leg.
