Acquisition of RHP Forest Whitley from Astro

Tampa Bay rays on Friday acquired the right -handed forest Whitley from Houston Astro in exchange for cash ideas.
Whitley, once a top -10 probability in baseball, was nominated for assignment by Astro on Sunday.
Houston selected him with the number 17 pick of the 2016 MLB draft out of the high school at San Antonio and gave him a $ 3.148 million signing bonus, but he failed to reach expectations.
Now 27, he did not debut in Houston for 2024 season and showed three reliefs, 3 1/3 did not give any earned runs in innings.
In this season, Whitle appeared in five matches for Houston, in which opponents earned 10 on nine hits and walked six in 7 1/3 innings. He has no decision with 12.27 ERA.
He had a record of 17–20 in the 117 Minor League showing (65 start), with a 4.75 ERA in 306 2/3 innings. He killed 421 batsmen and moved 160.
