ACC, Florida State, Claimson to dismiss cases against each other

After almost two years, litigation associated with the State of Florida, Claimson and the Atlantic Coast Conference is finally over.
The three sides on Tuesday filed to dismiss cases against each other, ending the legal battle over 17 months in three separate states.
Two schools and conferences approved the terms of disposal in March, which clarified whether and when Florida State and Claimson – or any other ACC member – could leave the conference.
Between the terms of settlement, the school will maintain its TV rights unlike the league. At the top of it, according to a presentation for Claimson trustees in March, the exit fee will decrease from $ 165 million annually in 2026 to about $ 75 million in 2030–31.
Florida State first sued Claimson (in South Carolina) after the ACC first on ACC (in Florida) after the two schools discovered a separate conference. The concern was growing that the league revenue was falling behind the SEC and the Big Ten, not to mention the ACC to not mention it competitively relative to other conferences.
Charlotte -based ACC, in turn, filed suit against Florida State and Claimson in Northern Carolina as it looked at the “grant of rights” agreements and the exit penalty of the league.
The March Settlement Agreement created a new Avenue for ACC to share revenue with its members as about 60 percent of the conference will be distributed on the basis of payable and men’s basketball TV viewership.
ACC Commissioner Jim Philips said in a statement at that time, “Today’s resolution begins the next chapter of this stored league and strengthens the ACC as a major conference.” “As we look forward to our collective long -term future, I want to express my deep praise for the ACC Board of Directors for its ongoing leadership, patience and dedication in this process.
“The League has competed at the highest level for more than 70 years and this new structure demonstrates the ACC to embrace innovation and pursue our membership based on competition and audience results. Settlements have coupled with a continuous partnership of ACC, allowing us to focus on our collective future-which included Clemson and Florida State.”
