Compulsory Credit: Rafael Suns-Imgon Picture Shakira Austin made a Go-forward basket with 39.8 seconds to play, and Washington Mistics won A’Ja Wilson-Las Las VEGAS Aces 70-68 on Fairfax, VA on Thursday.
Mistics (10–10) excluded Aces 12–2 at the final 3:16 of the game to take out the stuner. Britney Cyx led Washington with 18 points, Austin contributed 16 points and eight rebounds and Kiki Irifen added 12 points and eight boards.
Sonia Citron scored seven out of her nine in the fourth quarter.
The league MVP Wilson faced a wrist injury after falling on an attempt to the loss of Las Vegas at New York Liberty on Tuesday. An MRI did not cause any structural damage on Wednesday and only one sprain. There is no timetable for his return.
Jewel Lloyd led Las Vegas (9–11) with 20 points. Chelsea Gray had 13 points and seven rebounds, Dana Evans ended with 11 points and Jackie Young added 10 points and seven rebounds.
Washington has won four consecutive games at home and has five of the last seven.

Washington scored seven straight points, overshadowed by Irafen’s free throw with 1:48, so that the lead of 66–65 could be cut. The teams then traded the basket, in which Young made a layoff and converted a bridge-up jumper.
After an omission shot by Megan Gustafson of Aces, Washington lagged the ball back 68–67. Austin’s Putback gave the Mistic a 69–68 lead on Missed jumper by Cyx.
After a miss by Young, Austin received a rebound for Washington, but Sug Sutton did a business.
Gray then missed a shot in the lane, the aggressive rebound given to the talled, and then turned the ball with 5.2 seconds.
Sykes were left 4.3 seconds and made one of the two shots from the free-thro line.
Young recalled a drive for the basket, with the end of the time with a rolling from the shot rim.
Las Vegas led 15 points before Mistics returned in the third quarter. Washington overtook 57–54 on the Jumper of Citron with the remaining 7:24. Aces responded with a trimming 3-pointer by Gray and a trimmed by Young.
Washington again cut the deficit into four points, but jumping shots by Gray and Young gave the aces a 66–58 with 3:45 remaining.
