The report says Rohit Sharma was dismissed as India’s Test captain. The reason is not age, but …

Rohit Sharma can no longer be India’s Test captain, claiming a report. In particular, India’s Test and ODI captain Rohit was expected to lead the side in his upcoming tour of England, including five matches in the longest living format starting from June 20. This World Test Championship will also start India’s campaign in the 2025-27 cycle. Beyond the tour of England, a new report claims that Rohit will dismiss the Indian cricket team’s Test captain. In particular, led by Rohit, India won the 2024 T20 World Cup and the 2025 Champions Trophy.
The report of Rohit being removed from India’s Test Captain was shared by Indian Express. The newspaper claimed that the decisions of the selectors have nothing to do with the infection or call to remove the aging players from the team. It said that it was decided on the basis of Rohit’s poor performance with the bat in red-ball cricket. The same report states that Rohit will continue to lead the team in the ODI format, while saying that it is not certain to visit England for the test series.
Former India chief selector MSK Prasad feels that Arshdeep Singh, Sai Sudarshan and Kuldeep Yadav should be present in the squad for a five -match Test series in England. In an interview recently, former India head coach Ravi Shastri also threw his weight behind Sudarshan, which is in the middle of a stellar IPL and has experience playing county cricket.
Talking to PTI, Prasad, who was in charge of the selection committee from 2016 to 2020, also explained his reason why Arshdeep and Kuldeep have to be in the squad. He will be deeply transmitted to the deep on the sky between five pacers in the case of the 15-man squad to be declared in mid-May. After R Ashwin’s retirement, Washingstone Sundar, Ravindra Jadeja and Kuldeep will be his spin bowling all-rounders, who see the former chief selector as a real wicket-taker, even in pace friendly English conditions.
Whether Rohit Sharma should be part of the squad, it is a decision that Prasad feels that he should be left on the selection panel under the leadership of Ajit Agarkar.
“SAI must be a part of this England series. Because it is an ideal time as the new WTC cycle is about to begin.
“If Rohit is part of the squad, he opens with Jaiswal and can be a Sai back up opener. I will leave the selectors to take that call. Sai can get his opportunity as the series moves forward.”
Shubman Gill is expected to bat three and Virat Kohli, who will need to cross the off-stump demons in the UK once again, batting at four. The pant squad has a favorite choice of wicket-keeper Batter Prasad, while KL Rahul has enough to start as an expert batsman in the middle-order, he said.
