The patron of Delhi Capital broke the silence on England star Harry Brook, who was assigned a two -year IPL ban.

Delhi Capital (DC) patron and former England cricketer Kevin Peterson has expressed disappointment by pulling young England batsman Harry Brook out of the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL) season. Peterson said Brooke had technical flaws facing spin in the subcontinent and expected to help in the 26 -year improvement. Brooke was purchased by DC for Rs 6.25 crore in the IPL mega auction last year, but withdrew before the season begins, citing the need to “recharge itself” before the busy season with the England team. Nearly a month later, Brook was appointed as England’s new white-ball captain, replacing Jose Butler after the team’s poor performance in the recent ICC tournament.
Brooke also left last year’s IPL for personal reasons – his grandmother’s death – and missed the tour of England in India. According to the IPL rules, they have now been banned from participating in the league after withdrawing twice in a row twice.
Brooke played for Sunrisers Hyderabad in IPL 2023, scoring an average of 22.11 in 11 matches. His only prominent knock was a century against Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR).
Talking to Espncricinfo, Peterson said he was “bitter disappointed” with Brook, as he was remembering the league playing experience as he wanted to work with him to fix his technical flaws while playing spin in India.
“I told him, I was so,” Man, I am focusing on that I can’t work with you for a few months. ” I think he is a star … You don’t hit a ball on the additional cover and next, on the same ball, if you can’t play above the midwicket, ‘Peterson said.
“So he can play properly, but he has technical flaws in the subcontinent – especially in India.
Brook’s overall records in India include 310 runs in 14 matches, with an average of 22.14, with two half -centuries and 66 best. This includes his performance in the 2023 Cricket World Cup.
Earlier this year, during the recent ODI and T20I series against India, Brook fought against spin, scoring only 141 runs in eight innings. In all five T20s, he was rejected by spinners – three times by Varun Chakraborty and twice by Ravi Bishnoi.
Peterson said he had expected to help Brook as he had done with Joe Root and Johnny Bairstow in his early days.
He said, “Route spin became the biggest player of England so far. I am not saying that when he was a young, what we did is because we have done in the nets together, passing through a drill and practiced. I like that stuff.”
Peterson has set an outstanding record in India in all formats, scoring 1,876 runs in 36 matches, with an average of 45.75 with three centuries and 13 half -centuries. His best score in a Test match in Mumbai in 2012 was 186.
Meanwhile, Delhi Capital currently ranks fifth in the IPL points table with six wins and four defeats. His next match is against Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) in Hyderabad on Monday.
