Residents of Wisconsin tasted Green Bay’s NFL draft spotlight

The fans fill the NFL draft theater viewing area for the introduction of 2025 NFL drafts outside the Lambo field on April 24, 2025.

Green Bay, WIS. – The fans used to surprise and appreciate that one of the biggest events of the league, NFL’s smallest city, could host the NFL draft, and when the hometown packers selected a comprehensive receiver in the first round on Thursday, their mood became bright.

According to local news reports, an estimated 125,000 people were collected outside the historic Lambo field on Thursday before the introduction of the draft. According to the US Census Bureau, Green Bay city had a population of 105,744 in 2023.

“This is Green Bay’s Super Bowl,” Doni Renard Jr. said, which was part of a three -generation delegation including his father, Doni and 20 -year -old son, Tommy.

Renard traveled from Vis, Vis, about 85 miles north of Green Bay. His son is from Vausau at the center of the state, and his father – a lifelong packer fan – still lives in Green Bay.

“My father has actually gone for a super bow, a pro boule, hall of fame game and now draft,” said Renard.

The three Renards were pleased with the 23rd pick in the first round after the selection of Matthew Golden, the wide receiver of Texas. Fiding Golden was timed at 4.29 in 40-yard dash in NFL Commonen.

“I like it,” said Tommy Renard. “We needed a true number 1, and I think he is going to happen.”

Golden is the first detailed receiver drafted in the first round by Packers since Javon Walker in 2002. He spent two years in Houston before transferring to Texas in the previous season, where there were 58 receptions for 987 yards and nine touchdowns.

“It has always been a dream to go to this first round,” Golden said. “And to know that he has not chosen a receiver since 2002, this is really a blessing.”

Golden said he was eager to play with Packers Quarterback Jordan Love, which passed two games at a distance of 3,389 yards in the previous season, and in 2023 despite a distance of 4,159 yards. He dumped for a joint 57 touchdown in two sessions.

Golden said, “Talented quarterbacks, he can get out of the pocket and play, and he could definitely throw the ball,” Golden said. “I am going to tell him to tell him,” Man, you have got a reliable goal. You can trust me. ” But the trust is built over time, so go out of there, like I said, and compete, and to gain trust, this is the place where it starts for the first time. ,

About 25 miles south of Green Bay, despite being from a nearby crow, Adam Schmid was two decks in the Minnesota Vikings Jersey.

“I became a fan of vikings in kindergarten,” Schmit said, drawing the outer jersey to manifest under an old. “… it still fits. Randy Moss.”

Schmid said he felt that the first day of the draft was a big success despite the size of the green bay, or perhaps it was a big success.

“I think it was great. Not only for Green Bay, but for the entire region,” Schmit said. “It is difficult to host such a huge event during that small town environment. It seems great and I think the whole community is really proud.”
