After the historic victory of PBK, Shreyas Iyer Reunion with KKR CEO Venky Mysore

Punjab Kings scripted history on Tuesday as they defended the lowest clan in the IPL 2025 match against Kolkata Knight Riders in Mulanpur. After batting first, Shreyas Iyer and the company were excluded for the paletry 111 and were moving towards an embarrassing necklace. However, the Destiny shop had other plans as PBK pulled an incredible successor and dropped KKR for 95 and scored 16 runs. As the festival was in New Chandigarh, PBKS captain Shreyas Iyer joined KKR CEO Venky Mysore again.

Iyer was planted by KKR during the 2022 mega auction and was appointed as captain. He missed the 2023 season due to injury but after his return in 2024, he directed KKR for the title. However, things became ugly after the season as KKR did not retain its winning captain and joined PBK at a price of Rs 26.75 crore.

After being released by KKR, Iyer said that there was a lack of communication from the management and he was really disappointed about it. Now, three months after that statement, both Iyer and Mysore met each other in Mulanpur and the scenes of their meeting went viral on social media.

Earlier in January, Iyer opened the retention snub by KKR and how much he was disappointed about it.

“Certainly, I had a great time to win the championship in KKR. The fan following was outstanding, he was electrification at the stadium and I loved every moment spent there. So, of course, we had a direct conversation after the IPL Championship. We had a direct conversation after the IPL Championship. And it is long and short,” Shreyas said in a conversation with the Indian Express.

On the other hand, Mysore had said that Iyer KKR had a “number 1 pick”, but it was the batsman’s decision to participate with the franchise.

Talking to Revsports, Mysore said, “He was the number 1 (for retention) in our list. He is the captain and we have to make everything around the leadership. We had chosen him for this specific reason in 2022.”

However, Mysore revealed that the auction retention process is one that requires mutual agreement, and it may not be with Shreyas Iyer.

Mysore said, “What is fundamental for a retention, it is a matter of mutually agreeing. It is not a one -sided right that the franchise is near, the player will have to consider various factors and agree,” Mysore said.
