MI New York beat Washington Freedom by 5 runs in the MLC 2025 final to pick up his second trophy in the league.

MI New York have done it! Nicholas Pooran and co. defeated Washington Freedom by 5 runs to lift their second Major League Cricket (MLC) title. MINY ended their four-match losing streak against WAF at the biggest stage of all as the team added yet another trophy to their studded cabinet.

MINY win MLC 2025

Put in to bat first, MI openers Monank Patel (28) and Quinton de Kock (77) provided the perfect start for the side stitching together a 72-run opening partnership. The rest of the batters failed to fire as Lockie Ferguson and co. struck at regular intervals to leave MINY reeling. Contributions from Pooran (21) and Kunwarjeet Singh helped the team reach a total of 180 runs at the end of the 1st innings.

Washington Freedom suffered a double blow early on in the run-chase as they lost opener Mitchell Owen and Andries Gous in the first over. Rachin Ravindra attempted a fightback by scoring 70 runs off 41 deliveries but failed to take the team across the line as he was dismissed in the 16th over. In the end, it was Ugarkar who defended 12 runs off the final over as WAF fell short by an agonizing 5-run margin, failing to defend the title.

This is our 6th win in the last over and really happy to come out on top in those situations. MI and winning, sounds good! We set high standards and no wonder they are the most successful franchise. We love winning,” MINY captain Nicholas Pooran said after the win.
