Compulsory Credit: Gregory Fisher-Imagon Picture Matthew Boyd allowed four hits in eight excellent innings to reach a win-point victory for the first time in his career and the cubs of Chicago defeated New York Yancis 5–2 on Saturday afternoon.
Boyd improved 5–0 in his last seven beginnings and allowed two runs or less for the ninth straight time. The left -handed player allowed the Aaron Judge to doubles in the fourth and seventh and a single for Jazz Chisholm Junior in the fifth and a single for Anthony Volpe in the eighth.
Boyd (10–3) hit six, no one went for the sixth time this season and threw 62 out of 85 pitches for strike.
Boyd did not allow an earned run for the second straight start, for the third time in four and the sixth time. Boyd completed the eighth time for the fifth time in his career and for the first time on 24 April 2021 for Detroit Tigers and for the first time.
Veteran left -handed player became the first player to pitch the eight scorer in the innings on September 10, 2023 since Corbin Burns for Millvauki Breves.
New York saw his five-game winning streak and Ace Max Fried (11–3) after three innings went out with a bluff on his left index finger. Fried allowed four runs (three acquired) on six hits in his smallest outing of the season and the left-handed batsman also released a season-high three walks.
Fried, who was on the injured list in 2018, 2019, 2021 and 2023 with the Atlanta Braves, threw only 39 out of 73 pitches for the strike.
The judge reached 350 for his career to reach 35 homes this season in the ninth and to end the shutout bid for Chicago.
Nico Horner opened the game with Triple and scored on the groundout by Kyle Tucker first.
Carson Kelly took an eighth position after starting a third place of three runs with an RBI single, taking the third Basman Oswald Paraja to the left area.
Seya Suzuki doubled Kelly’s hit and when Chisholm made an error by Dansbi Swanson on a force.
Ian Hap added two hits, including one RBI single in the third. He entered the game with two hits in his last 32 et-Bats and was given by manager Craig Counsel on Friday.
New York’s Kodi Bellder went on 0 -for -3 against Boyd after hiding thrice on Friday and extended his hitting streak to 17 games with a single in ninth place from Brad Keller to 17 games.
Keller hit Giancarlo Stanton with a pitch, Daniel Palansia quickly terminated the 11th Save.
