Furious quarterback Jake Ratezlaf announced on Friday that he was withdrawing from Byu, a step recently accused of sexual harassment in a civil lawsuit.
Ratezlaf said that sex was consent. The suit was rejected on June 30, but Rayzlaf still faced a seven-game suspension to violate the school’s honor code, which ban premiere sex.
Ratezlaf said on Instagram, “After a lot of prayer, reflection and conversation that I have faith, I have officially taken a difficult decision to withdraw from Byu and move away from the BYU football program.”
“Byu matters more than just football to me. It is the place of development – spiritual, mentally and physically. I am grateful to every team partner, coach, staff member and fan who supported me on the way. The relationships and memories I have made in Provo will always be my part.”
Retzlaf is likely to be run on another program in the coming weeks.
Ratezlaf emerged as a star in the previous season and there is no clear replacement for the 2025 campaign at the school.
The school’s athletic department said in a statement, “We are grateful for the time when Jake Retzlaf has spent BYU.” “As he moves forward, byu understands Jake’s decision to withdraw from Athletics byu and respects him, and we wish him to enter the next stage of his career.”
In this week’s Big 12 media days, coach Kalani Sitake had very little to say about Ratezlaf.
“We love Jake Retzlaf and appreciate everyone made for our program,” the seat said on Tuesday. “… It would be unfair for me to make a statement in their position.”
In the trial, it was alleged that Rayzlaf attacked his home in November 2023 in Provo, Utah.
According to the suit, Rayzlaf and Jane Doe started watching a film in their room and started kissing. The lawsuit says that Jane Dos did not want to go ahead and asked him to “stop”, but Ratezlaf eventually found a condom and assaulted him.
Ritzlaf, a native of California, who began playing his career for Rivaraside (California) City College, transferred to Byu before the 2023 season. After starting the last four matches in 2023, he won a training-winter battle in 2024 to become Kagar’s regular quarterbacks. He won him 11-2 records and an Alamo Bowl on Colorado.
He ended the campaign with 2,947 passing yards, 20 touchdowns and 12 interception. 6-Foot-1, 205-Pound Redshart Senior expected to resume his role of this decline.
Ratezlaf will now try to create an impact in another school.
“I am excited to bend the page and embrace the next chapter,” Ratezlaf said. “My journey is over – and I am more inspired to chase my goals than ever.”
Byu opened the season on 30 August against visiting the state of Portland.
