NYCFC acquired M Nicholas Fernandez Merco as DP

New York City FC on Friday acquired Midfielder Nicholas Fernandez Merco from Spanish Side Elch CF.

The 25 -year -old Argentina Native covers NYCFC as a designated player on a contract through 2029.

Fernandez Mercau scored 11 goals and 12 in 97 demonstrations in three sessions in Alke.

He helped the club to earn promotion to La Liga with a team-high 17 goal contribution in the previous season.

NYCFC Sports Director David Lee said, “We are actually excited to welcome Nicolas in New York City. Nicolas is an attacker midfielder who plays with intensity, has excellent technical ability, and contributes to both attacks and defense.” “Nicholas has already experience in two highly competitive leagues and has shown that he can perform at a higher level, the most recent Alke CF helps Laliga to earn promotion.

“He is arriving at an ideal age to influence the roster in both short and long term and will add quality and depth to our roster. We are ready to integrate Nicholas into the team as we continue to push our push through the second half of the season.”

Pending for his international paperwork, he will be eligible to play when the MLS transfer window opens on 24 July.

Fernandez Merca started his career 2020–22 with San Lorenzo de Almagro of Argentina.
