Time is going on for Karun Nair as Star Squanders “One More Chance”

Karun Nair has failed to set fire again, this time in the IND vs ENG 3rd Test in Lord’s, despite leaving for a good start
Karun Nair’s comeback to the Indian Test side after over 7 years hasn’t gone as planned so far. The number 3 batter witnessed yet another failure to convert a good start into a big score in India’s 1st innings at Lord’s in the IND vs ENG 3rd Test. Nair was the second batter to depart as Joe Root took a blinder at the slips to send Karun packing.
2nd innings to determine Nair’s future
Prior to the IND vs ENG 1st Test in Leeds, Karun had last played for India in 2017. After a series of standout performances in County and domestic cricket, Nair found his way back into the playing XI. However, he disappointed in the very first innings that he made a comeback by getting out for a duck. What followed was a 20-run knock in the 2nd innings. Nair was sent in to bat at number six in this game.
In the Edgbaston Test that followed, Nair replaced Sai Sudharsan at number 3. However, he failed to convert starts of 31 and 26 to bigger scores, thereby once again letting his team down as the number 3 batter.
Now, in India’s 1st innings at Lord’s, Karun managed to get to 40 before he was sent packing. He did manage to hold his fort for quite some time but time seems to be running out for the “comeback star”.
India have Sudharsan on stand-by to take over the number 3 position when needed. Besides, the youngster only made his debut in the 1st Test in Leeds. Despite a sub-par performance at the Headingley, the Tamil Nadu batter has been in good form off late and also has the experience of playing in County Championship.
