Gunar Henderson’s two-nine, pinch-hit home run disrupted a pitching duality in the eighth innings and Baltimor Oriols defeated New York Met 3–1 on Thursday afternoon in the first game of a doubleheader.

Mates Starter David Peterson crueled the seven shutouts before the yield of the lead-off single of the colon Covers in the eighth and replaced him by Rhine Stanac, who surrendered the 11th home run of the season of Henderson. Oriols later tackled another run in the innings on Ramon Laureno’s sacrifice fly.

Grant Wolfram, who was added to the Baltimor Roster as an additional player due to the doubleheader, scored the seventh and eighth innings with four strikes to register his first win in major leagues in his third presence. Felix Botista worked ninth for his 18th Save.

Peterson completed the seven-plus innings by allowing five hits and excluded six without walking. Stanak (2-5) suffered losses.

Tyron Taylor ran in New York’s run and was part of a major defensive drama. Mark Vietos, who entered the game as a pinch of hitter in the fourth innings, made two out of five hits of the Mates.

Oriols Starter Charlie Morton was at risk of loss for the first time in more than two months before the eighth-inning run. He worked in six innings, with three walks with three walks and four strikes on four hits.

This was the second game of the series after Mets won in 10 innings on Tuesday night.

Peterson placed the Oriols in three singles in five innings, with a runner on a third basis on the teller’s throw from the taylor field.

New York scored first when Brett Batty led to a walk in fifth, stole the second base and scored on Taylor’s double.

The Vientos doubled to start from the sixth, but were stranded as Morton hit two of the next three batsmen.

Mets implicated four runners through three innings. Oriols had brought a runner to the third base with two outs in the fourth, before Raman Urias excluded the left ground on the 11th pitch of the At-Bat.

The twin bill was necessary after Wednesday night’s rain.
