
Portland Timbers further Jonathan Rodriguez will remember the remaining season after the right knee surgery, the team announced on Tuesday.
Timbers said Rodriguez performed a cartilage restoration surgery. He last played for Portland on 20 May in the US Open Cup match against San Jose earthquake on 20 May.
“Jonathan is a very important player to us, and his absence is important,” said in a statement by Ned Grabwoy, General Manager of Timbers. “This has been a challenging period in his career, but he is an excellent professional and our club will do everything to support him with his recovery.”
Rodriguez, 32, was a big hit in its first season with Timbers, which in 2024 offered 16 goals and seven assistance in 29 matches (27 starts).
But this season was a conflict as he initially tried to play through the disease. He had a goal and a assistance in six MLS shows from the bench.
Before joining Timbers, Rodriguez played for three teams in Leiga MX, Mexico and scored 108 goals in 277 demonstrations in all competitions from 2016-24. He also has three career goals playing for Uruguay’s national team.
