Former top -10 player Fabio Phogni announces retirement

Twenty -year -old ATP experienced and former top -10 player Fabio Phogni announced retirement from tennis on Wednesday at his last tour -level match site, All England Club.

The 38-year-old Italian, which reached number 9 in the ATP rankings in 2019, had earlier announced that he would retire at the end of the 2025 season, but the farewell was injured after the farewell after a farewell after a five-set shock (7-5, 6-7 (5), 7-5, 2-6, 6-1, 6-1).

Fogni, who married 2015 US Open champion Flevia Peneta, posted a 426–396 career solo record. He competed in the 63 Grand Slam tournament, reaching the 2011 French Open to the quarter -final round. Unfortunately, he faced an injured thigh and withdrew, leading to Novak Djokovic semi -finals.

His biggest singles win against Rafael Nadal at the 2015 US Open and number 1 in Rome in 2017.

Fognini, however, won a Grand Slam doubles title, partnered with Conscience Simon Boleli to capture the 2015 Australian Open title.

“I did this work for 20 years,” Fogni said, “and I don’t know how to do anything else.”
