Hard Valkyries Defense ruined Cataline Clarke’s return to fever

The Golden State Wallciries Guard Tiffany Hes (15) and Indiana Fever Guard Callene Clarke (22) fought for the ball on Wednesday, July 9, 2025 during a sport between Indiana fever and Golden State Vulcaries at the Genbridge Fieldhouse in Indianapolis.

Golden State Volcaries made a defensive attempt to win an 80-61 win over Indiana fever in the return of Cateline Clarke in India’s action in Indianapolis.

WNBA all-star captain Clarke returned from his second important injury to the season with 10 points, but could not provide enough aggressive punch to help win the fever.

The Golden State (10-9) leads WNBA in opposing shooting percentage (39.9 percent entering the game) and did nothing to hurt the mark in keeping Indiana in 30.9 percent (21-for-68) season-at 30.9 percent (21-for-68). Indiana opened the game with a 23–14 lead, scoring 33–9 runs by Golden State, including the end of the first quarter, the entire second quarter and the beginning of the third quarter.

Valkyries placed Indiana for just nine second-quarter points, and Indiana pulled the Macayla Timpson Jumper within 55–50 with 2:58 to go to the third quarter, Golden State went 9–0 to pull away from 9–0 to pull away.

Valkyries were led by Veronica Burton, who tried to run the 5 -6 -6 -6 3 -point on the way to 21 points, eight rebounds and six assistance. All-star Kayla Thornton added 18 points and eight boards.

Golden State improved 9–0 in the season when his opponent was caught less than 80 points. This was the second time when Indiana scored under 75 points.

Indiana (9–10) did not promote much than Clarke’s return, as Star’s 10 points came through 4-for-12 shooting. Clarke gave six assistance. Fellow all-star Kelsey Mitchell added 12 points on just 3-for-13 shooting. Timpson covered a distance of 10 points from the bench for fever.

Indiana took a 23–14 lead to shooting 8-for-17, but shot only 13-for-51 in the final 32 minutes of the game.

Indiana will return to action after hosting Atlanta Dream on Friday, while Golden State will play in Las Vegas Aces on Saturday.
