Yahoo Sports said on Tuesday that Grand Canyon is finalizing a deal to attend the Mountain West Conference for the 2025-26 athletic calendar.
The Phoenix-based university, which does not have a football program, was originally expected to join the league by July 2026. The school accepted an invitation from Mountain West to join 1 November 1.
Antelops have been a member of the Western Athletic Conference since the 2013-14 season.
Grand Canyon’s male basketball team trained by Bryas Drew, four of the last five sessions have been in the NCAA tournament.
Membership of Mountain West has evolved since five schools-Boys State, Colorado State, Fresno State, San Diego State and Utah State-announced that they were joining PAC-12 in 2026.
