
The San Jose earthquake has sent the Argentine’s top flight to Argentina’s Junior Midfielder Hernan Lopez on a loan.
The transaction announced on Tuesday is for the remaining 2025 season and includes the purchase option.
24 -year -old Lopez scored nine goals in 37 matches in all competitions since joining San Jose as a nominated player in May 2024.
Argentina Native performed right shoulder surgery in March and played only five MLS matches in 2025.
Quake Head Coach and Sporting Director Bruce Arena said, “Hernan has a bright future, but with our roster set since returning from injury, we are sending him to the loan to continue his development with the hope that he will develop into a player.”
Lopez is the great nephew of the late Diego Maradona, the World Cup champion and the 20th-century FIFA co-Khili (with a Pelé of Brazil).
