India’s video game revolution is constantly building, but in recent years, the country has firmly established itself as a prominent player in the global gaming scenario. According to the 2025 India Mobile Gaming Insights report by the censor tower, India recorded 8.45 billion mobile game downloads in FY 2024 – 25, strengthening its position globally. While casual styles such as simulation, arcade and tabletops continue to lead in download due to their access and cultural familiarity, it is the main competitive styles such as shooter games that are responsible for most revenue. National Video Games Day: India’s video gaming ecosystem rise
The ecosystem is not only moving towards the player, but is also starting building its own games. A recent step in that direction came from Meta, which launched a dedicated incubator program Meta Gaming Accelerator to support small and medium game developers across India. At the inaugural Wave Summit hosted by the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, Crafton India Gaming Incubator (Kigi) creators presented their in-development indie games for investors, industry leaders and audience audiences. While Mobile remains a major platform for gaming in India, one of the most important moments for the country’s video game industry came from PC and console space. It was led by Nodwin Gaming, who is a leader in South Asia’s Asports and Gaming Ecosystem, as well as with the Indie Game UTSAV. In the Mumbai leg of Comic Con India, a nodwin gaming IP, the Indy Game Utsav X Steam Sale made headlines as more than 110 Indian-OR PC games were depicted on the Global Steam Front page for the first time. A defined aspect of India’s video game growth is the increasing influence of creators and asports athletes.
