National Fire Manager Dave Martinez, GM Mike Rizo

The citizens of Washington on Sunday dismissed manager Dave Martinez and General Manager Mike Rizo, when they directed the franchise to the title of their only world series.

Martinez, who helped Washington win the 2019 World Series in his second year, yet as a manager holds a record of 500-622 through 7/2 season.

After his sweep at the hands of Boston Red Socks on Sunday, there are National 37–53, the last place in the National League East and 16 games already.

His second worst record in Major League baseball since the start of 2020 season is at 325-473. Only Colorado Rockies are worse.

In a statement, the lead owner Mark D. Learner managing citizens said that Mike Debartolo would serve as interim general manager, while an interim manager will be decided on Monday. Debartolo Washington’s Senior Vice President and Assistant GM of Baseball Operations were GM.

The Learner said in his statement, “From our family and Washington National Organization, I want to thank Mike and Devi first for our franchise and their contribution to our city.” “Our family is always grateful to its years of dedication to the organization, including his roles in bringing a world chain trophy in Washington, DC, while we appreciate his previous successes, on-field performance is not where we or our fans expect it.

“This is an important time for our club, and we believe that a fresh approach and new energy is the best course of action for our team to move forward.”

60 -year -old Martinez was a long -time MLB player and coach who won a world chain as a Chicago cub bench coach before Washington, before Washington gave him his first managerial work.

64 -year -old Rizo was with citizens since 2007, when he was hired as his Assistant General Manager. He was promoted as GM in 2009 and was given an additional title of the Chairman of the baseball operation in 2013.
