Virender Sehwag’s son Vedant DPL gets unsolded on DPL 2025

The first mega auction of the Delhi Premier League (DPL) took place on 6 July.
It was a big day for young cricketers hoping to take their first step into the spotlight but for Vedant Sehwag, it ended in quiet disappointment. The 14-year-old son of former India opener Virender Sehwag went unsold at the Delhi Premier League (DPL) 2025 auction held on Sunday, despite a promising run in age-group cricket.

Who is Vedant Sehwag?
Vedant, an off-spinner, was one of the youngest names in the auction pool. His recent performances for Delhi Under-16 in the Vijay Merchant Trophy, where he took 24 wickets in just five matches, had drawn attention. Sehwag himself had lauded his son’s efforts on social media, calling it a “proud moment” for the family. Many expected at least one franchise to take a punt on the young talent.
Vedant’s elder brother, Aaryavir Sehwag, who has represented Delhi Under-19 and made waves with a 297-run knock last season, is yet to have his name called out.
Earlier in the DPL auction, Virender Sehwag dazzled the event with his presence. He had special message for budding cricketers as well and even hinted his wish to see his kids play in DPL.
