Karun Nair’s pathetic run so far with another cheap score

Karun Nair expanded his poor run in Engbaston’s second innings in the second innings of India.
Karun Nair threw yet another opportunity out of the window as he was dismissed for just 26 runs in the ENG vs IND 2nd Test. The batter, who made his return to the Test side after a span of seven years, has failed to make his mark as the number three batter. Nair was the first Indian batter to depart on Day 4 of the contest at Edgbaston, Birmingham.
Karun Nair flops, again
Nair lasted for 46 deliveries before he was sent packing by Brydon Carse. It took Jamie Smith a simple catch behind the stumps to send Karun back to the pavilion. During his stay in the middle, the Vidarbha batter managed to score five boundaries. In the 1st innings, he scored 31 runs off 50 deliveries before being dismissed by the same bowler.
Shubman Gill benched Sai Sudharsan in ENG vs IND 2nd Test, who failed at one down on his Test debut in Leeds. Hence, India included all-rounders to elongate the batting lineup, moving Karun Nair to three. The Karnataka-born batter looked in great touch, hammering five boundaries. He survived a close LBW shout, where Nair didn’t attempt a shot.
After that, England’s bowlers made a simple plan – go short to Nair, who didn’t look comfortable off that particular length. Ben Stokes aimed at his body before Brydon Carse came in and dented India just before lunch on Day 1. A short delivery, that continued to soar up on Nair, found its way to the second slip, ending Nair’s stay at 31.
