Pittsburgh Pirates are on a roll.
The Pirates not only won six consecutive games going on in their interlaylag series starting on Friday afternoon in Seattle, but they are coming out of the three-market sweeps of St. Louis Cardinals in which they did not allow a run.
A team that was just 12–26 when Derek Shelton was fired on 8 May as a manager, playing better than the .500 ball (26-24) for replacement Don Kelly.
“I think this is the team we were rolling out in spring training,” said Pirates Shortstop Isiah Kenner-Falefa. “This is the original plan. You can see that we were expecting to go in the year.”
Pirates have dropped their opponents from 43–4 during their winning streak, and their employees have combined for 31 consecutive scorers innings.
Kelly said, “We have been a great start.” “We have talked about run support and how there are many games where this has not happened. They are the same pitcher. Then you watch the previous few games where it continued.
“Early pitching the same people are going out of there, and it is really good that they should be able to score some runs. If the beginning people do, continuity is incredible, and this is the foundation for us. They have really done good work.”
Can they copy that success on the road, can be seen.
Pirates are just 12–29 away from Pittsburgh as they go on a nine-game trip that will also take him to Canasus City and Minnesota.
“We’ve found to be healthy, got to live together, and we support our pitching. It’s our strength,” said Kenner-Falefa. “It is good to be 100 percent right now. I think it all matters. If we can be 100 percent, who knows what can happen?”
While the Pirates were inactive on Thursday, Meriners lost 3–2 against the Cansus City Royals, who managed the division of the four-game series.
George Polesco and Dominic Canzone killed Solo Homeers, but the rest of the Seattle crime provided very little support. Julio Rodriguez hit four times, caught by a third strike with runners in the second and third place in the ninth innings.
Mariners went to 0 -for -11 with runners in scoring position.
“I think we are all disappointed, but that’s why we are ready to go back tomorrow, and this is what we have to do,” said Meriners Manager Dan Wilson.
Pirates Pichers will have to deal with Mariners All-Star Catcher Cal Rale, who were selected for the American League for June after batting with 11 domestic runs and 27 RBI. Raley led big companies with 33 homeers.
The Pirates did not officially name a starter for Matini on Friday, while Meriners planned to send the right-handed Brian Wu (7-4, 2.93 ERA) to the mound.
Wu, who played at least six innings of all his 16 in this season, is not coming to Texas on Saturday. He allowed two runs, both inadvertently lost 3–2 in 10 innings in a game in six innings. For the second beginning in a row, he taunted nine, matching his season to the best.
Wu will face pirates for the first time in his career.
