Doug Ghim takes John Dere as Max Homa, Ricky Fouler also walks less

The Daug Ghim made a bogie-free, 9-under-Burbar 62 from the sixth Fairway An Route on Thursday, with the first round lead in John Dere Classic in Silvis, Il.
The Ghim made four of their seven Birds, four of the nine birds in TPC Deere, who were the head of the club house with a shot lead on Max Homa and Austin Acrot. This season has been the first winner on the PGA tour, and the 29 -year -old native of Illinois is trying to become a ghim 10th.
“Obviously, any victory on the PGA tour is amazing. It would be great to do here,” the ghim said. “A lot of golfs are to be played and I probably will not move forward till the end of the day. We will see.”
The ghim stuck to the bird in the opening hole and the short para -4 was under 2 below 2 before reaching the sixth hole. He had a 91-yard shot at the front pin place and was fully played for the Eagle 2 card.
“In my career many times in my career, many times you try to go out and shoot 62.” “Not to say that we are not trying to shoot 62 every day, but you have it to let it come to you.”
Homa made her best round of 2025 after struggling with her game in the first six months of the season. He was in line for his own 62 before creating his only bogie in his final hole.
Homa said, “I have just really solved everything. I made a tonne put. Put the driver in good places,” Homa said, which has been away from T in this season, but on Thursday, 10 out of 14 fairways hit in regulation. “My iron games were found to take advantage of playing my veg.
“Always feel good for a good start when you are struggling, it’s sure.”
Eckroat chose two of its first five holes, immersed a 11-foot put in the first par-5 seconds and then dropped out of 137 yards at the fifth. Eckroat was proud that he did not find herself far ahead.
He said, “It was a little hurry to go to the nut, but it was still – threw my hands into the air. She enjoyed it,” he said. “If it was late on Sunday, there was definitely a reaction.”
Four players were tied at 7-under 64: David Lipsky, Sam Stevens, Justin Lower and previous John Dere Champion Michael Kim.
Ricky Fouler posted 6-under 65, with his second nine, 29 on front nine. He excluded number 2 at a distance of 103 yards and added three straight beats to Nos 5-7. He was part of a large tie, including Matt Kuthar, Sea Wu Kim of South Korea and Emiliano Grillo of Argentina.
Defending champion Davis Thompson opened with 3-under 68. Australian Jason Dey fought on 3-over 74.
