“The player always needs,” Ravindra Jadeja opens about exclusion of Kuldeep Yadav in Edgbaston

Ravindra Jadeja finally moved to India as he played his 89 role in the first innings in the last 15 innings.

Following India’s surprising decision to leave Kuldeep Yadav for the second Test in Edgbaston, senior spinner Ravindra Jadeja has presented his views on the call, which has raised a lot of eyebrows.

After India’s huge defeat in Leeds, the management made several changes for the Birmingham testing, which includes resting Jasprit Bumrah and leaving Shardul Thakur and Sai Reformson. While many hope that Kuldeep Yadav will eventually get a game, especially with India’s inability to take 20 wickets in a series opener, selectors chose for Washington Sundar, prioritizing the depth of batting on the skill of taking wickets.

Happily, Sundar fulfilled Gautam Gambhir’s faith as Southpow scored 42 runs and was involved in a brilliant 144-run stand with double Centurion Shubman Gill. However, it remains to be seen how he goes about it while bowling. Sundar did not bowl a single bowling on day 2.

What did Jadeja say about Kuldeep Yadav?

Addressing the media after day 2, Jadeja was asked about Kuldeep’s omission. Appreciating Kuldeep’s capabilities, Jadeja pointed to a very interesting but sensible response that a player should only control the controller.

,Whenever Kuldeep Yadav gets an opportunity, he will do well-he is a wicket taking.,” He said. “I spend time with him, but whenever we go out, we ever discuss cricket. A player should always focus on controlling the controller.”

Kuldeep has certainly been India’s best spinner in red-ball cricket in the last 18 months, with an average 118 wickets of 20.74 since December 2022. Their ability to divert and cheat batsmen in the middle overs often tilt sports in India’s favor. But the team management, haunted by the collapse of lower order in Leeds, was chosen for Sundar, who is a more reliable batsman at number 8.

Jadeja also weighed the nature of the Edgbaston surface, which has not yet offered much twist. ,Still, I would say that there is nothing in front of me. I have not seen a single ball spin in two days. As the game progresses, I hope that the spinner helps more than such wickets,” He said.

It was attractive that the pair of Akash Deep and Mohammad Siraj reduced England by 25/3. This has added India’s huge gain in Birmingham, especially after a hammer on 587 in the first innings.
