Washington National will shoot for the victory of his second direct series when he hosts Detroit Tigers on Thursday evening.
After leaving seven consecutive series, Washington took two out of three matches from Los Angeles Angels in the last weekend. On Wednesday, the National surprised the tigers 9–4 after losing the opener day and night for rallies for rallies for six runs in the eighth innings.
The Washington will send the right-handed Ditrich ENS (1-0, 0.00 ERA) to the right-handed Jake Irwin (6-3, 4.73 ERA) at the conclusion of the three-game set.
Irwin will see to bounce back from his worst outing of the season. In Ainahm, California on Friday, he allowed nine runs (eight acquired) on nine hits – including three domestic runs – in 4 1/3 innings. He also walked four batsmen, but ran away with a no-nine as Washington won 15–9.

Against athletics, he allowed one hit and two walks, taking out four.
