India-Pakistan Hockey Ice-Breker Asia Cup may be a good sign for 2025

Reports suggest that India will face Pakistan in Dubai on September 7 in the Asia Cup 2025 in Dubai, while there is no confirmation on it.

Pahalgam terror attack was ghastly. Innocent Indian lives were lost, and our resolve to not play Pakistan, at least an average Indian, became only stronger. Now, as things stand, we are just a couple of months away from the Asia Cup 2025 in UAE, that is reportedly set to begin in September, and IND’s participation is not confirmed yet.

India vs Pakistan in Asia Cup 2025? Almost there..

The Asian Cricket Council is fretting over India’s presence, due to the high stakes involved … also the broadcast rights. There has been no official word from the BCCI as yet. But then Pakistan’s participation in Asia Cup hockey, in Rajgir, Bihar, in August could just open the gates for cricket as well.

As per a source in the sports ministry (The Times of India), Pakistan coming here is a bit different. It is not a bilateral series. “We are not against any team competing in India in a multi-nation event. But bilateral is different. Pakistan hockey team will come to India for the Asia Cup and Junior World Cup as other teams are also coming.

“Necessary clearances have been obtained from the concerned ministries. India needs to follow the Olympic Charter. We can’t stop a nation from competing,” the source added. Coming back to cricket, it seems that the BCCI is yet to get clearances for the same. So, all this just adds to the confusion for now.

As for where we stand on Cricket Asia Cup, a BCCI official told Insidesport, “There is no discussion or even a remote thought about boycotting matches. We play Pakistan in the ICC events and it will go on if our government doesn’t say otherwise. As for Asia Cup, we will know in the coming days.”
