Coco Goff credited his opponent a lot, while she was properly pinned, where she felt that she was declining her first round loss in Wimbledon in London on Tuesday night.

Goff 7-6 (3), 6–1 unheard Ukrainian Dayana Yastrimca fell. The Gauf Ladies singles draw was the number 2 seed and was coming out of the second Grand Slam of her career at the French Open less than a month ago.

The 21-year-old may have impacted the preparation of the goff for the Grass-Cort season by winning the French.

“I think mentally I was a little overwhelmed by everything that came later,” Goff said, “So I didn’t feel that I have enough time to celebrate and returned to it.”

His only competitive match between Rolland Garos and Wimbledon was at Berlin Open, where he dropped his opener in straight sets to China’s Zenu Wang.

“I think like the surface I could probably use more matches. It’s like finding a puzzle,” Goff said.

“This is a quick change, so I think it is better to know what is better to train and probably play bad Homberg or Eastborn.”

Goff fought badly with his service on Tuesday. He failed a double fault nine times, and when he was forced to serve his second service, he won less than half the points (14 out of 32).

Everyone said, he eliminated losses with only six winners and 29 unexpected errors.

“(Yastremska) played brilliant,” Goff said. “I saw the draw and knew that it would be a difficult match for me. … I played it on the soil, and I think the surface does a little better, (and) it was still a hard three-seater. I knew that it would be difficult today.”

Goff took Belarus’ World No. 1 Aryana Sabalenka in the final of three sets in Rolland Garos. She won the 2023 US Open and reached the semi -finals of the Australian Open in 2024.

This is Wimbledon where she had the least to show the least to show her efforts, even though her success came in 2019 when she defeated Venus Williams at the age of 15. She stopped in the fourth round in 2019, 2021 and 2024, never proceeded.

“I am confident that if I can make these adjustments, I can do well here,” Goff said. “I really want to do well here. I am not a person who wants to write myself quickly in his career, but if I want to succeed here then I definitely need to change.

“I am trying to be positive. After the match, I was definitely struggling in the locker room. I don’t like to lose.”
