Why are players wearing black armband on 1 of the IND vs Eng 2nd Test?

Players from both India and England are playing Black Armband on 1 of the second Test in Edgbaston, Birmingham.
Players from both India and England were seen wearing black armbands on Day 1 of the second Test at Edgbaston on Wednesday, July 2. The gesture is in memory of former England cricketer Wayne Larkins, who passed away on June 28 at the age of 71.
2nd Test ENG vs IND: Players wearing black armbands
Known affectionately as “Ned,” Larkins played 13 Tests and 25 ODIs for England between 1979 and 1991. He was a stylish and aggressive opening batter, whose fearless approach would have fit right into England’s current Bazball era. One of his most memorable moments came in 1990 when he hit the winning runs in England’s famous victory over the West Indies at Sabina Park.
Larkins was also a domestic giant, scoring heavily for Northamptonshire and later for Durham. He continued playing domestic cricket until nearly the age of 50 and was a familiar face at cricket gatherings even in recent years. Despite a stop-start international career, he remained a beloved figure in English cricketing circles.
This isn’t the first time players have worn black armbands during this series. In the first Test at Headingley, players wore them on three different days to honour the victims of the Ahmedabad plane crash, as well as late cricketers David Lawrence and Dilip Doshi.
Ahead of the toss on Wednesday, England captain Ben Stokes chose to bowl first. England retained their winning XI from the Leeds Test, while India made three changes—resting Jasprit Bumrah and bringing in Washington Sundar, Nitish Kumar Reddy, and Akash Deep. Kuldeep Yadav has been ignored once again.
