India cricket team will be eyeing to bounce back in ENG vs IND 2nd Test after they were handed a 5-wicket thrashing in Leeds. The Men in Blue don’t have a great record at the Edgbaston in Birmingham, having played 8 Tests at the venue but without a win so far. It remains to be seen how the surface at Edgbaston will behave towards the Indian bowlers who did not get any help whatsoever in Leeds.

The surface at Edgbaston surely favours the batters more than the bowlers. The last time India played England at the venue, the hosts successfully chased down a target of 378 runs. With that being said, the average first innings score over the last 10 Tests in Birmingham is 334.

With the surface looking similar to that in Headingley, India may be tempted to bat first. Given the uncertainty over Bumrah’s participation, it would be wise for India to stick to their strengths and bat first.
