For a long time, CF Montreal won its first domestic win of the 2025 season, winning a 1-0 win at the New York City FC on a rainy night.

The second goal of Canadian International Victor Loturi’s campaign helped Montreal (3–12–5, 14 points) claim his second win in three outings. The result marked the second clean sheet of the season for goalkeeper Jonathan Sirois.

His three wins in the season have now come against the NYCFC (8-7-4, 28 points), which sit outside the automatic playoff qualification after amazing defeat.

In the 22nd minute, a long curling strike from Dante Sili flew from goalkeeper Tomas Romero’s gloves and all the routes of midfielder Loturi, whose rebound, powerful, was killed and low on the ground, sustained neatly in the lower left corner of the goal. North Star Bell’s Gong was a pleasant sound for Montreal fans, whose team had already scored just six goals at home throughout the season.

The best chance of New York’s first frame came from a Julian Fernandez Cross that used to bounce Montreal defender Luka Petraso in the eighth minute. Sirois was judged to prevent a deformed effort before crossing the goal line.

In the second half, Subsional Jules-Antony Wilscent had a great opportunity to double the lead of the domestic team with a delicate flick from Prince Ovsu, which bounced him on an open path towards the goal. Goalkeeper Romero eventually caused some difficulty in removing a weak hit attempt from Wilsent.

This was a rare opportunity in a relatively quiet relationship that saw that visitors manage only two shots on the target.

Montreal will be doubly pleased to collect points, given his absence. Joel Waterman and Nathan Saliba with long -injured Bryas Dukes and Fabian Herberners are in ConcacAF Gold Cup with Canada. The nominated player GiComo Vrioni also remained out of the lineup with an elbow injury.

Assistant coach Mehdi Balluchi was a person in charge of NYCFC with Manager Pascal Jnasen for personal reasons.
