IGA SWIATEK: Tennis schedule also ‘intense’ for players

IGA SWIATEK stated that the tennis calendar is packed very tightly and forces players to compete in a lot of tournaments, just for the ranking points.
Talking to reporters before Wimbledon, where he is number 8 seed, former World No. 1 said that a lot of players are being asked.
After being asked about mental health, Swetek opened on the subject.
24 -year -old Swatek from Poland said, “Scheducting is super intense. It is very intense. There is no point in playing more than 20 tournaments in a year.” “Sometimes we need to sacrifice to play for your country because we need to remain with these WTA 500s playing, for example, because we are going to receive a void in the ranking.”
Swetek is not the only player on the WTA tour, which is vocal about mental health. Grand Slam winners Naomi Osaka and Bianka Andresku are among women who have taken a break for mental health purposes.
The tennis season runs approximately a full calendar year and the ranking points are earned on the basis of competition and both perform in the tournament.
“I think the rules about such obligations and compulsory tournaments pressurized us,” said five -time Grand Slam champion Swetek.
“I think people will still see tennis, perhaps even more, if we play less tournaments. Quality will be better.”
The fourth Grand Slam event of the season plays in London in Wimbledon, starting on Monday. Swiyatech played in Germany on Saturday, lost in the final of the Bad Homberg Open for Jessica Pegula. His presence in the final, and points was earned, extended the sweatek to number 4 to number 4 from the number 8 world rankings.
Swiytech plays a 22 -year -old Russian Polyina Kudematova in Wimbledon on Tuesday.
He is yet to win a tournament in 2025 and is not among the favorite in Wimbledon, where he has never upgraded the quarter -final round before. London courts are grasses, which is not a specialty of Swiatech.
