Australia captain Pat Cummins allegedly lost NIS new Bagi Green Cap just before Wi vs Aus 1 Test at Briddtown, Barbados
Australia cricket team captain Pat Cummins has lost his new baggy green cap in Bridgeton amid the ongoing Test series against West Indies. As per reports, the all-rounder hasn’t been able to find his cap since Day 1 of the WI vs AUS 1st Test in Barbados. Australia, the WTC 2023-25 runners-up, started off their fresh cycle with a convincing win against the West Indies.
Cummins loses priced baggy green
As per Fox Sports, Cummins had opted for a new baggy green instead of the old one (which was presented to him in 2011) when he went for a captains photoshoot with Roston Chase a day before the 1st Test. However, on the day of the Test minutes before the toss, Cummins was unable to find the new cap. The report states that Cummins’ new baggy green was one of the last remaining baggy greens manufactured by Albion.
The report further adds that the whereabouts of Cummins’ new baggy green remains unknown. Earlier in 2024, David Warner’s baggy green had also gone missing just before he could play his farewell Test. However, it was eventually recovered after a “nationwide search”.
WI vs AUS 1st Test: What happened?
Josh Hazlewood turned out to be too hot for West Indies batters to handle as he wreaked havoc on the hosts to help Australia clinch a 159-run win in 1st Test. The visitors managed to win the Barbados Test within 3 days into what was a controversy filled contest.
Australia had a shaky start to their 2nd innings but it was their middle-order batters who saved the team’s face. Travis Head (61), Beau Webster (63) and Alex Carey (65) slammed half-centuries each to power the visitors to 310 runs at the end of their 2nd innings.
Australia tasted early success with the ball as Starc got rid of opener Brathwaite in the very first over. And then, it was Hazlewood’s turn to show his magic. The pacer ran through the West Indies top and middle order, getting rid of Campbell, Chase, King and Carty in quick succession.
Tailender Shamar Joseph (44) attempted to put up a late fight but failed to hold his fort as he fell victim to Lyon. Hazlewood finished the game with his 13th five-wicket-haul as Australia thrashed West Indies by 159 runs.
