Red Wings acquired G. John Gibson from Duck

Detroit Red Wings on Saturday acquired John Gibson from Ainahim Duck, on Saturday for a pair of fellow goalkeeper Petra Mazake and Draft Pix.

Duck will get the fourth round pick in the 2026 NHL draft and the second round in 2027. There is no salary retention in the deal.

Gibson, who will be 32 years old on July 14, is entering a contract of $ 51.2 million in the seventh season of eight years. He is slapped to become an unrestricted free agent at the end of the 2026–27 campaign.

Gibson posted 11-11-2 records with 2.77 goals averages in 29 games (starting 28) last season (28 start).

Duck’s general manager Pat Verback said, “We want to thank John for his time with his organization and is an integral part of ducks for more than a decade.” “It became clear that John wanted a new opportunity, and after several discussions with him we felt that now is the right time to do this step.

33-year-old Mrazek, 2–2-0 with 2.49 GAA and percent save percent in five appearances with red wings. They were acquired from the Chicago BlackHox on the trading deadline.

MRAZEK has a record with 2.85 GAA and .906 SP in 428 career performances (starting 397) with Philadelphia Fliers, Carolina Storm, Toronto Maple Leafs, BlackHox and Red Wings with 2.85 GAA and .906 SP.
