“Surely want to bring down the economy”

Prasad Krishna looked good in the patch in the Leeds Test, but the problem was his length, allowing the English batsmen to score independently.
In the four Tests that Prasidh Krishna has played so far in his career, he has managed to pick up 13 wickets, at a strike-rate of only 41. But then the problem has been his poor economy rate that stands at over 5. In the first IND vs ENG Test as well, he bowled with economies of over 6 in both innings, that cost India big.
Prasidh Krishna Wants to Keep Economy Down
Prasidh Krishna revealed on Saturday, that he is aware of the problem, and is always looking to be miserly, when it comes to giving away runs. He also admitted that he was unable to hit the right length, and is in the process of learning. “Every time I come into bowl, I’m definitely looking to bowl a maiden and I’m not really trying to give away boundaries or anything,” Krishna said.
“The outfield [at Headingley] Fast, length, lines I bowled, they were not right to be honest most of the time, and they took me. Some of them were shore, some of them I tried bowling bouncers, I gave runs.
“My responsibility to get better”
“So I think somebody in the team had to do it, and if I sit back and say, ‘I want to look at my numbers, what my economy is,’ and not really look at the wickets, it cost me a 4 and a 6, and then Jamie Smith got out, so if it means that I do that and get a wicket, I’m happy to do it, but definitely every time I come on to the bowl, I am looking to keep the economy down and build the pressure up.”
The 29-year-old bowler went on to add, that it was only his responsibility to learn quickly, and deliver for the team. “I had a few conversations with a few of them about this game. I definitely would want to bring that [economy] Whatever I can do below, and yes, I think I am learning, I can’t say anything, it’s up to me, it is my responsibility to be better, and that’s what I am trying, this is what I am working, and I just want to make sure that I come back and come back and put better numbers, “said Krishna.
