As a result of Jake Kannap’s latest record day, a course was recorded at Rocket Classic on Friday.

Kannap on Friday equalized a course at the Detroit Golf Club for a course record 11-in-end 61 on an eight hole stretch. Kannap, who started the day tied for the 120th day in the rocket classic, was put on a bogie-free card in an eagle and nine Birdi, which put him into a dispute with the cutline.

Kannap, 31, has established a reputation to be a very scary player.

In February, he recorded the 15th Deputy 60 round in PGA Tour history in the first round of Cognizant Classic. He finally finished sixth after stumbling in the final round.

Kannap fired an opening-round 63 in its most recent beginning at the RBC Canadian Open. He posted a final round 72 to settle for T27 again.

Ranked 98th in the world, Kannap has won a career on the tour. It came to the 2024 Mexico Open, where he also posted 63 in the first round and held a two-shot win with 71 on Sunday.

“I am definitely not afraid of shooting a low number,” Kannap said. “It seems to me that when I start making a beardi, I want to make more. I was also thinking about 59 when I closed it to my third for the eagle and I felt that I could probably eagle and Bird the last two.

“I think when you are playing well, just try to stay out in your own way and just do in a way what I am doing and making more Burdies.”

Friday’s curriculum records came a day later when Kannap struggled with a single equal 72 on a course, with a pair of 10-under 62s a day. During the early stages, he managed just one lonely a border against a bogie.

This quickly changed on Friday as Kannap took advantage of a hot vesicle. After three consecutive purses to open their rounds at nine, Kannap inserted three shovedies on a four-hal stretch. He reached Par-5 17th Hole in two and then dried the 34-foot eagle put.

After making his turn in 5-under 31, Kannap completed six out of his first eight holes to reach the bottom of 11 for 11 rounds and 11-shot improvement from Thursday.

He said, “I was just a kind of baffling last night because I felt that in the practice of practice and everything felt like I was hitting it very well, and I know that this course is set well for me,” he said. “So to shoot equal to the first day, it seems that you are shooting yourself in the foot, but it looks good to bounce back with 61.

“I just tried to play a little more aggressive, and for the most part we went with the mindset that every pin was a green light, so just tried to hit it on everything.”
