Caning was injured after throwing a pitch that Nick Alan retired on a grounder, short from the top to the second innings to another. While trying to move ahead of Elli White, walking third, the canning fell to the ground with his left leg in the air.
Caning was helped to get out of the field and Mates reported that he had an ankle injury. He retired eight of the nine people that he excluded the three.
Austin Warren (1-0), recording his second appearance this year, worked in 2 1/3 innings and allowed only one hit to win. Dedenil Nunez, Rhine Stanac and Edwin Diaz closed the game by allowing just one Baserner in four innings.
Grant Holmes (4-7) absorbed the loss after allowing two runs on six hits and three runs in five innings. He swept six.
New York got the only run in the fourth when Tyron Taylor easily scored Juan Soto and distanced a sacrifice fly from the right. He led the innings with a walk and came to the third place through Pete Alonso’s single that one hoped the wall in the right centers.
Alonso made two-out RBI Single to Center, his 65th RBI 2–0 in the 65th RBI of the year. It scored Francisco Lindor, who did a single with one and Brandon moved to second place on Nimmo’s single.
In the seventh, two insurance runs were faced with two outs. Soto sang and upgraded the third position on the double of Alonso in the corner of the Left region. Jeff McNell looked at Allen’s two-thorn single at the shortstop by looping them.
