Select Colgate F Kristyna Kaltounkova No. 1 in Siren Pwhl Draft

After spending his number 1 overall pick in the PWHL draft on Colgate Forward Christina Caltonkova, New York Siren acquired the number 3 pick on Tuesday and selected the Wisconsin Center KC O’Brien.

Along with reducing the roster of the siren from the expansion draft, General Manager Pascal Doubt made a deal to increase the crime with a standout scorer with Toronto Septress. In Swap, Daouse sent top defenseman Ella Shelton to Toronto for its first and fourth round pics (number 27).

Siren lost two of its top three scorers, Alex Carpenter and JC Aldridge, as well as the first expansion draft and goalkeeper Corin Shroder for Seattle in the signing process in June. New York scored a league-less 71 goals, with a combination for carpentry and Aldridge 20.

Siren organized the No. 1 pick in last year’s draft, as well as pursued Sara Phillrier, who tied 29 for the PWHL points lead in the previous season.

A native of the Czech Republic is the first European -origin player to go on number 1 in the Kalnetunkova PWHL draft. He is quite familiar with Siren coach Greg Fargo, who was his coach in Colgate, where he was the school’s all-time leading goal scorer (111) and the second all-time in points (223).

“Seeing who is on the roster, I am really excited to just start,” Calnetounkova said. “I am happy to jump and can help as much as possible and have immediate effect.”

O’Brien led the country with 88 points (26 goals, 62 aids), won the Patty Cauzameer Award and helped Bassers lead a national championship.

With the number 2 pick, Boston Fleet chose Haley Winn, who saw that fellow Clarkson Defenseman Nicole Gosling goes to Montreal Victor with number 4 selection.

Nos 5 and 6 selections were also defensemens, as the Ottawa Charge drafted the cornell’s Rori Guilde and Minnesota Frost from Quinipiaq to the Kendall Cooper.

In the first round of the six-day draft, Vancouver took Mitchell Karvinen ahead of Frolunda HC in Sweden at number 7, followed by Ohio State Forward Jena Buglioni of Seattle at number 8.
