Eric Wagaman doubled one run and later scored in the second innings of two runs, which gave Miami an edge for good, as Marlins on Tuesday night extended a 4–2 season-opening winner Lakir of Justin Verlander with a winning 4–2 win over San Francisco giants in a three-game series opener.
Cal Qantril jointly helped open six-game Western swing on a positive note with three relievers on five-hitters.
Wagaman first got Marlins on board when he followed Kylle Stores with his double to center field with an out single. After killing Liam Hicks, Verlander sent Vagaman home for a 2–0 lead.
Miami tacked a double run on a double by Jesus Sanchez and another run on an RBI single by Otto Lopez, then responded to a two -run house run by Christian Kos of veterans in the fifth with the last tally of the game in Xavier Edwards double in the seventh.
Returning from a term in the injured list due to a stressful right pectoral, Verlander (0–5) left 3–2 with veterans back, allowing three runs on five hits in five innings. He went one and hit five.
Cad Gibson (2-3), the third pitcher of Miami, was credited for the victory after retiring all the four batsmen faced in the sixth and seventh innings.
Quantrill, who attended a nearby Stanford, was charged with two runs on four hits in 4 2/3 innings. He went two and hit three.
Quantrill was pulled with veterans with two outsiders in the fifth, below 3–2, put the potential Go-Farward runner first with two outs. Heliat Ramos congratulated Anthony bends with another-heart double, but the fielder stools left the Rafael Davors in the plate to allow Miami to maintain their thin profit.
Reluvers Ronnie Henriques and Calvin Fauchar helped Miami to move the stretch downwards, Fachar earned his eighth savings after releasing the leadoff walk to Ramos in the ninth.
Norbi, Sanchez and Edwards made two hits for Marlins, who defeated the veterans 11–5.
Kos’s home was his second of the season. Davors finished 1 -for -4 with a single.
