Team Spirit and Gimin Gladiators booked their spots in the PGL Walchia season 5 playoffs, with a group stage win in Bucharest, Romania on Monday.
Both teams improved 3–0 with round 3 wins, Spirit won 2–1 against Natus Vinsare and Gimin Gladiators, which was sweeping Arora Gaming.
The group phase runs from Wednesday and a revised Swiss system features 16 teams. All matches are the best of three. Eight teams form playoffs, which are double elimination and begin on Thursday. All the playoff matches except on Sunday’s best-five Grand Finals are three of the three.
The award pool contributes $ 1 million, with the winner taking $ 350,000 home.
This was the third direct sweep for the Gamine Gladiators, who won the 25– and 34-minute win against Aurora on Green.
Team Spirit opened a 34-minute win over Red and a score of 45-44, before the 57-minute win on Green with a 57-minute win, Navi opened with a 49-minute win over Red.
1-1 teams were beaten on Monday in four matches, all decided by sweeps: Betbom Team Over Extreme Gaming, Team Tidbound on Wildcard, Team Liquid on OG, and Asports on Tundra Edge.
In matches associated with 0-2 teams, Veer finished the Evulas with a sweep and Nigma Galaxy excluded the virtue with a win 2–1.
