WTA Roundup: Aryana returns to the quarter -final win at Sabalenka Berlin

World No. 1 Aryana Sabalenka of Belarus saved four match points in the final-set tiebreaker to defeat Elena Rybikina of Kazakhstan in the quarterfinal of Berlin Tennis Open on Friday.

Sabalanka came to the top despite Raybikina back 6–2, which was an intense, back-forth match. In its first Berlin semi-finals, Sabalenka will face 2023 Wimbledon Champion Marketa Wondrasova, who defeated Tunisia’s lucky Oons Jabur 6-4, 6–1 to win seven of his last eight matches in his 2023 Wimbledon final.

The Berlin is Jenu Wang of China, in addition to reaching the semi-finals, who won the initial set 6–1 against Paula Badosa before retiring Spaniad with a hip injury to the second set. Wang will face Russian Lidmila Samsanova, who did an easy task of American rival Amanda Anisimova with a 6–1, 6–1 win, which lasted for just 57 minutes.
