Justin Thomas and English Tommy Fleetwood along with Scoty Shefler joined the Travelers Championship Leaderboard on Friday, in the TPC River Highlands in Cromwell, CON.
Thomas posted a 6-under-Burbar 64, which was tied for a short round of the day, and Fleetwood shot 65 to reach 9-under 131 for the tournament. After opening with 62, the Sheffer, who holds part of the lead, managed 69, which included a water ball and a double bogie at number 17.
The trio was a stroke ahead of the Australian Jason Day, which posted his second straight round of 66 to get 8 under 8. Austin Acrot, who was tied with Sheffeler through 18 hole, fought to finish fifth with Denny Macarthi (64) on 71 Friday.
Northern Ireland’s Rory McLero and US Rider Cup captain Keagan Bradley was still completing his round as 5:45 local time, both for their round and also for 6 tournaments.
