St. Louis Cardinals on Thursday scored three runs in the eighth innings to win 5-4 against hosts Chicago White Socks in a doublehead opener.
In three innings, two runs (one earned) on six hits (one), who started Pitcher Eric Fedede, conceded two runs. Reliever Andre Granillo (1–0) finalized the seventh place to win, and Ryan Halesley threw an ideal ninth place for Save.
White Sox Starter Scene Burke allowed two runs (one earned) on four hits and threw seven in 5 1/3 innings. Chicago has lost seven directly.
St. Louis held a rally to take a 5-4 lead in eighth position from Came Bucers (1-4). After Alec Burnson was opened with a single, Wilson Contraras launched a fastball in the left-saint field seats to tie it 4–4.
Nolan Gordeman arrived at a throw error and eventually scored two-outs of Yohel Pozo to put the cardinals in front.
Chicago broke the tie 2–2 in the sixth. With Lenin Sosa, Michael A. Taylor put a two-run domestic run ahead 4–2 inside the left field pole.

Burke drove Macin Vinen to shut down, gave Ivan Herrera a single, and run Berlson to load the bases. Contrarasas chased with a sacrifice fly, which brought Vinen home 1–0.
