Prized Sambhavna Roman Anthony hit his first domestic run in the major leagues and Lucas Giolito played six scorer innings, as Boston Red Sox defeated hosts Seattle Meriners 2–0 on Monday night for his sixth consecutive win.
Boston was playing his first game since the Rafael Davors trade for San Francisco giants.
Meriners had a three-game winning line.
Giolito (3–1), a right-handed batsman allowed three hits, run one and hit a season-Hai 10 batsmen to help Boston win the second direct 2–0 by defeating New York Yankis by the same count on Sunday at Fenway Park.
Red Sax Closure Aroldis Chapman hit the ninth side for his 13th Save in 14 occasions this season.
Meriners Starter Logan Gilbert (1-2), who had been out with a right elbow flexor tension from 25 April, almost matched the giolito. The Righty played five innings and conceded two runs on three hits, tied with a walk and 10 with strikes.
Anthony, playing in his seventh game since returning from Triple-e-Warsster, went deep into the right-center ground in the first innings from Gilbert, killing an estimated 391 feet 2–2 fastball. It snatched the 0-for-12 recession for Anthony, which made just one hit in its first 17 et-bats.
Red Sox added a run to the third, when Jeren Duran hit the two-out triple in the right area corner. Former Meriner Abraham Toro got the RBI as he reached an informed single, on which the second Basman Coal Young made a diving stop, but was unable to get the ball out of its soil as Toro dropped the first base line.
Meriners threatened at the bottom of the innings, leaving everyone as dominic canzone, Ben Williamson, and Cole Young, loading all outskirts. Giolito fanned JP Crawford, who hit his fifth career Grand Slam Sunday, Julio Rodriguez and Cal Rale to get out of the jam.
Starting with those strikes, Giolito faced the last 12 batsmen.
Meriners placed two runners on the base in the seventh and eighth innings, but could not carry forward a run against Justin Wilson and Greg Vecer.
