“A shame …”: Ben Stokes revealed what he read to Virat Kohli after his retirement

England captain Ben Stokes paid tribute to Virat Kohli in front of the Indo-England Test series

While India is ready for the high-profile five-match test series against England, a name that will be unique from the Indian lineup is Virat Kohli. The former India captain surprised the cricket world with a sudden retirement from Test cricket a few weeks before the tour of England.

Rohit Sharma also bid Adiu, and in his absence, Shubman Gill is set to lead the Indian side in a new form. However, the zero-India’s fourth largest run scorer tested is high in the tests. Kohli has set an impressive record in England, visited the country three times and scored more than 979 runs in just 15 matches. In fact, only legendary Indian batsmen like Sachin Tendulkar, Sunil Gavaskar and Rahul Dravid have managed to score more runs in England than Kohli. This is despite the fact that Kohli had a terrible tour of 2014, scoring only 134 runs in 10 innings.

England’s Test Captain and All-Format Tauriz, Ben Stokes, opened up Kohli’s retirement in a video released by England Cricket, in which he revealed a personal message that he sent to The Indian Great.

“I read him not to play against him is a shame. Because I like to play against Virat. We both like to play against each other. We both have the same mentality on the field, you know; this is a fight. It is an incredible. It is unreliable. I am sure that there is a lot of praise in India, and of course (England) has been praised here. Stokes added.

Stokes described Kohli as “incredible” and “a class player”, which he accepted the fierce but respectable rivalry. Kohli scored a 1960 Test run against England, often distributed when it was most important, especially in challenging English conditions.

“I think India will remember the spirit of his fight in the game, his (Virat Kohli) competition, and his desire to win. He has made number 18, is it not that? It would be a bit strange that no Indian shirt will see number 18 on the back of any person of any Indian shirt, but he is a class for him for a long time.”

Kohli, who retires with 9230 Test runs, 30 centuries and the heritage of fearless cricket, can no longer get out of whites. However, he had a big call in the legacy of India’s red ball. He was probably the most successful captain for the country in the format, and it is a shame that he ended without joining the 10,000 runs club.
